The City of Stockbridge has confirmed Mr. Randy Knighton to fill the position of City Manager.

Randy Knighton

Randy Knighton has been the County Administrator for Hall County Government.  Before that, Mr. Knighton served as Hall County's Senior Planner for four years and then Planning Director for five years. He previously worked for the Orange County Planning Department (Orlando, Florida), the City of Orlando Planning Department (Orlando, Florida), and the Osceola County Planning Department (Kissimmee, Florida). He has earned a Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice degrees from the University of Central Florida, and a Master of Divinity from Emory University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and the American Planning Association (APA).  He is also a Credentialed Manager of the International City/County Managers Association (ICMA).

Mr. Knighton and his wife, Debbie, have two children, Randy II and Ryan.

In a statement, Mr. Knighton said, “I am very thankful to have this opportunity to work with the Mayor and Council to build upon the foundation already established in the city of Stockbridge. I will work diligently and in concert with elected officials, staff, and citizens to ensure the city of Stockbridge realizes its vision. I am grateful for the opportunity to humbly serve in the leadership role of City Manager.”

The City has already received very positive feedback about Mr. Knighton’s nomination.

“In my years of working with Randy Knighton in public service, he has been the consummate professional,” said Richard V. Mecum, a former Hall County Chairman, former Hall County Sheriff and former U.S. Marshal.  “The City of Stockbridge will be greatly benefited by his experience and astute knowledge of local government operations.”

The City anticipates that Mr. Knighton will attend the next City Council meeting on August 29, 2017 and that the City Council will vote on the Mayor’s nomination at a special called meeting to be held on September 7, 2017.  Additionally, a reception will be held immediately following that meeting to allow members of the community to meet Mr. Knighton.
