Stockbridge Welcomes Home Olympian Chris Kinney 
 
STOCKBRIDGE, GEORGIA- April 5, 2018- The City of Stockbridge will welcome home Winter Olympian Chris Kinney on Monday, April 9, 2018. Kinney grew up in Stockbridge and attended local Stockbridge schools. The Olympic athlete recently competed in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games on the USA Four-Man Bobsled Team. There will be a welcome reception for the community hero on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 5 pm at Stockbridge City Hall located at 4640 North Henry Boulevard in Stockbridge, Georgia. The public reception will be followed by the Stockbridge City Council Meeting where Chris Kinney will receive an official proclamation from Mayor Anthony S. Ford, Mayor Pro Tem Lakeisha T. Gantt, Councilman Elton Alexander, Councilman John Blount, Councilwoman Neat Robinson and Councilman Alphonso Thomas. 
 
The hometown hero will visit Stockbridge Elementary School on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 9 am for a school-wide pep rally and special presentations.  Kinney attended Stockbridge Elementary School and will return to highlight the importance of education. The Winter Olympian will then visit his alma mater Stockbridge High School at 2 pm  for a press conference, a second pep rally and a meet and greet reception with student athletes. The City of Stockbridge has partnered with Chick-fil-A Dwarf House for Tuesday's events. Chris Kinney's visit of local Stockbridge schools will highlight the importance of excellency in education and athletics. 

"Chris is excited to have the support of the Stockbridge community. It's been amazing to see just how many community members have cheered him on throughout this journey. We are grateful, " said mom Sandra Kinney. The international athlete will share his educational and Olympic experiences at the Press Conference scheduled for Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 2 pm at Stockbridge High School. Kinney will be joined at the press conference by David Marshall, MD, from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Sports Medicine Program to highlight the importance of health and fitness. Members of the media are encouraged to attend all events. The Stockbridge Main Street Program coordinated this community initiative.
